The Alexander Cipher $7.99 Workers in Alexandria are excavating for a new building when they discover the ruins of an old tomb, and all work crashes to a halt. According to federal law in Egypt, all discoveries must be properly catalogued by archeologists and this tomb has unusual relics and representations, apparently contemporary with Alexander the Great. Daniel Knox’s first love is history and archeology, specifically on Alexander the Great. When he pisses off a local mobster on the coast of Egypt, he heads to Alexandria to an archaeology colleague’s apartment to hide out for a while. He learns his friend is getting to participate on the dig for this newly discovered tomb. Sneaking in with his friend, Daniel sees signs that the find is far bigger than anyone realizes and might hold clues to finally unravelling one of the world’s greatest mysteries: Where is Alexander the Great buried? In his lifetime, Alexander was beloved as a god, and across the Mediterranean, everyone wanted to be close to him. Upon his death, there was a mad scrabbling among his former allies to secure his empire for themselves. Even now, nearly 2500 years later, Alexander is still being fought over. With the discovery of this tomb and the revelation of its relics, the race is on to find Alexander. Rival archeologists, Egyptian officials, and Macedonian nationalists all scurry and scramble, attacking each other along the way as they hunt for a glorious prize–the body of Alexander the Great. |

Alexander the Great $13.63 The first major new biography for over 20 years of one of the most renowned figures in history: Alexander the Great. There is really no need for any special justification, let alone apology for a new history of Alexander; he is one of those very few iconic figures who remade the world and constantly inspire us to remake our own worlds. Born in 356BCE in Macedonia, Alexander led the army of his father, King Philip, conquering mainland Greece at the age of eighteen. Two years later, he was himself crowned king. Within the next twelve years Alexander conquered almost the entire known world, pushing the limits of Greek and Macedonian power to astonishing levels. Meticulously researched, vividly written and bringing to bear a lifetime’s scholarship, this is an outstanding biography of one of the most remarkable rulers in history. |

Fanny & Alexander - $24.99 Though he made allusions to his own life in all of his films, Fanny and Alexander was the first overtly autobiographical film by Ingmar Bergman. Taking his time throughout (188 minutes to be exact), Bergman recreates several episodes from his youth, using as conduits the fictional Ekdahl family. Alexander, the director’s alter ego, is first seen at age 10 at a joyous and informal Christmas gathering of relatives and servants. Fanny is Alexander’s sister; both suffer an emotional shakedown when their recently-widowed mother (Ewa Froling) marries a cold and distant minister. Stripped of their creature comforts and relaxed family atmosphere, Fanny and Alexander suddenly find their childhood unendurable. The kids’ grandmother (Gunn Wallgren) “kidnaps” Fanny and Alexander for the purpose of showering them with the first kindness and affection that they’ve had since their father’s death. This “purge” of the darker elements of Fanny and Alexander’s existence is accomplished at the unintentional (but applaudable) cost of the hated stepfather’s life. Ingmar Bergman insisted that Fanny and Alexander, originally a multipart television series pared down to feature-film length, represented his final theatrical film, though within a year after its release he was busy with several additional Swedish TV projects, and his final work, the 2003 Saraband (also produced for Swedish television), eventually received global theatrical distribution. Oscars went to Fanny and Alexander for Best Foreign Film, Best Cinematography (Sven Nykvist), Best Costume Design and Best Art Direction/Set Decoration. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi |

The products you choose to sell and the methods you use to market them is not as important as the type of unique selling position you use to help set yourself apart from your competitors. A unique selling position is what helps here and you should never forget to think one up for yourself and your products. Creating a USP helps you in a few ways: 1) it gives you the chance to be innovative 2) it helps you be your own competition and 3) it gives people a reason to buy from you instead of from someone else. Creating your own USP isn't really rocket science; it's a lot easier than most people think--in fact, it is easier than creating a product itself. You just need to focus on the positives of your product and improve the negatives.
Help Customers Save Money: One of the easiest ways to come up with a USP that works is to help your target market save money. This applies to almost every niche, which means it will work for any product. As long as You Can tell your customers how your product will help them save more money than those of your competitors, you have a winning USP. It is important that you strike a balance; don't just create a product that is cheap.
List Your Benefits: Identifying your product's USP is all about knowing your product perfectly. No matter what product you aim to sell, you have to work on the USP by first identifying all the benefits your product has to offer. List out the benefits on a sheet of paper and then use that list to figure out which benefit is the biggest or the most important. Then when you're done with that list, go through it line by line and strike through any benefit that doesn't seem to be that big. This then leads you to the major advantages of your product which you then turn into your unique selling point--simple! Take your time with this so that you can get a total and thorough handle on your benefits.
Customer Feedback Awesomeness: Nothing is worth more to you than the feedback you are given by your customers. Go through every single piece of feedback that you are given by all of your customers so that you can understand everything about your product from the point of view of the people who buy it. While it doesn't take much time, the time you do spend doing this will be worth it in the end. Lots of times your customers will be able to point out things to you about your products that you couldn't see for yourself. Using customer feedback will help you find your USP while simultaneously helping you raise your business up a level.
Hopefully it's now clear to you why it's essential to create a USP for your product and use it to help your business grow. If you're wondering what you should use as your product's USP, and aren't sure where to start, simply choose the feature that offers the largest advantage. You may want to alter or make improvements on your USP sometime, but work with what you have now.
