The Band That Played On $24.99 “>When >Titanic> collided with an iceberg at 11:40 pm on April 14th, the eight members of the band had already retired for the evening. Still, they put on overcoats and mufflers came out to play in the lounge. When most of the First Class passengers had taken to their lifeboats, the musicians simply moved to the deck and continued to play, calming the passengers as the ship sank. One second class passenger said: “Many brave things were done that night, but none were more brave than those done by men playing minute after minute as the ship settled quietly lower and lower in the sea. The music they played served alike as their own immortal requiem and their right to be recalled on the scrolls of undying fame.” Survivors’ accounts differ about whether their final tune was “L’Automme” or “Nearer My God To Thee.” What has never been disputed is the courage of these musicians who deliberately sacrificed the possibility of escape in order to produce a mood of tranquillity at a time of extreme anxiety. But who were they? What journeys brought them to this deck on this icy ocean? Had any of them previously displayed signs of great courage? Who did they leave behind? Historian and biographer Steve Turner delves into the lives of these brave men, revealing eight unique portraits of bravery.>> > > > > > > >” |

And the Band Played On $11.81 On 14th April 1912 the Titanic struck an iceberg on her maiden voyage and sank. Fifteen hundred passengers and crew lost their lives. As the order to abandon ship was given, the orchestra took their instruments on deck and continued to play. They were still playing when the ship went down. The violinist, 21 year-old Jock Hume, knew that his fiance, Mary, was expecting their first child, the author’s mother. One hundred years later, Christopher Ward reveals a dramatic story of love, loss and betrayal, and the catastrophic impact of Jock’s death on two very different Scottish families. He paints a vivid portrait of an age in which class determined the way you lived – and died. An outstanding piece of historical detective work, AND THE BAND PLAYED ON is also a moving account of how the author’s quest to learn more about his grandfather revealed the shocking truth about a family he thought he knew, a truth that had been hidden for nearly a hundred years. |

The Elder Scrolls V, Amazing, Highly Detailed World You Will Love
Skyrim is the best single player RPG I have ever played. You are going to love it. There is nothing I don't like about the Elder Scrolls v? On all levels the detail is amazing. There are real-time weather systems that look authentic created with the new Creation engine.
The player is in total control of the path the player takes: the Elder Scrolls v: Skyrim is packed with hundreds of hours of game play, of quests, and side quests, of creatures, details, and items everywhere you look.
The game engine is so intelligent that its radiant story AI will shift the game experience: quests, NPCs, and dragons change to accommodate the players choices. The player can develop any character he or she wants, with whatever skill set desired. Wow!
Skyrim is RPG extraordinaire! The first time I saw this game my jaw dropped open. The new Elder Scrolls v, is so appealing that when I showed it to gamers who have no interest in RPG, they were ready to get a copy.
How can anyone resist the idea of taking on a dragon, absorbing its soul, and getting its powers, like the dragon cry. Very cool! And when battling, now You Can dual-wield anything you want: a sword in one hand, and magic in the other. Attack, swinging dual blades, an axe and a hammer, anything, any combo you want, use defences like shields, which you can use as a melee weapon too.
The realm of the new Elder Scrolls v is just too real looking, too inviting to resist. Its like walking into middle earth, but better because it is a fantasy story that is largely unwritten. Yes, in Skyrim, the player now have the power to write the story.
Everywhere you look things are functional, not just backdrops or props. You can run to the mountains you see on the horizon, and climb to the top of them. But it will take you a long time to get there, just like in real life.
Just looking at the game-play trailers, and noticing the realism and detail I would say that the most amazing thing of all is that the development team was able to get this game to play on existing consoles. Even PCs do not need to be upgraded that much, as far as I have heard.
Games of this magnitude are usually released on the next generation machines. But the team totally rewrote the engine to get even more out of the 360, etc. Very good job team! And my big tip to any gamer who wants to play the best game of the year: get the Elder Scrolls v: Skyrim right now right here: The Elder Scrolls 5.
