How To Insulate Log Cabin Kits
Log cabin kits are offered in several styles and designs. Do you want something with a sunroof? You got it. Do you desire a dwelling with floor-to-ceiling windows? Just say so. Do you need a home with a wooden patio? Simply browse through the pages.
Those designs share a common thing, that is, they are constructed out of logs, or solid wood. Since the logs are stacked up to form the structure, it is normal that there will be gaps between the logs and boards. Unfortunately, these spaces allow chilly air and drafts to blow inside, severely lessening the heating efficiency in your home. Lacking sufficient insulation, the interior of your residence will become uncomfortably cold during autumn or winter. Worse, you will have to face a huge heating bill, considering that your heating system will have to work overtime.
To make your cheap log cabins warm and comfortable and to cut a huge bit of heating bills, you have to install some sort thermal insulation system in your cabin.
1. Seal all gaps with high-quality silicone caulking. Don't forget to caulk the usually overlooked joints where the wall and the roof join together. Log home caulking is a silicon-based sealant just like window caulking and can be applied with a caulk gun. Apply the caulk to both the interior and exterior of the cabin.
2. After the caulk has dried, step inside and run your hand along the gaps that you just caulked. If you feel cool air blowing, re-caulk that area. You Can spot smaller cold air drafts and leaks easier if you have access to a thermal imaging camera.
3. For the attic, install a few layers of R-value fibreglass insulation. Make sure the layers cover all areas including between the joists of the attic. You may have to pul l out a few boards to ensure that the joists are filled in completely.
4. If your log cabin has a vaulted or open ceiling, install insulating sheeting before adding any roofing material.

1985 Winston 500 Talladega Race Featuring Bill Elliott Dvd $37.95 The 1985 Winston was an important race for Bill Elliot. RJ Reynolds had put up 1 million prize and Elliott was in the running for it. Elliott led twenty-five laps in the early going battling Kyle Petty Cale Yarborough and Dale Earnhardt for fist place. However on the 48th lap of the 188 lap race at Talladega an oil scavenger line broke in a puff of smoke. Elliott had to pit and lost two laps 5 miles while repairs were made. When Elliott made it back on the track he turned sizzling laps at 205 mph. By lap 125 he made one lap up by lap 145 he was back on the lead lap. Elliott passed Cale Yarborough and the rest was history. |
