This Is Not Really A Canon 60d Test, As Much As It Is Successful Footage For My New Zombie Movie, Which I Am Shooting Entirely On The 60d
I decided to do the test on the awesome 60d. It is a time lapse of approaching storm clouds. Watch as the darkness descends upon the venerable houses. This footage is part of my new zombie movie, so I was not really doing a Canon 60d test.
At the same time it is a Canon 60d test, as I just got the intervalometer to create the time lapse, and any time lapse is like a test. What do I mean? You just do not ever know exactly what a time lapse will produce. That’s the fun of it. Go a head and plan the shot, in the end it will probably surprise you what you end up with.
Darkness and danger is descending upon the town in this Canon 60d test, it like the approaching apocalypse. It won’t take long until the Zombies will infest the streets and alleyways.
I am showing you raw footage here. This footage came straight out of the camera. There are no fades, filters, or effects. This is the way I learned how to do it thirty years ago. It simply better and quicker and easier to do things in camera. Old school is sometimes the best school. So what does the old rule say? It says what You Can do in camera, than do it in the camera. This Canon 60d test needed three storms to create. Time lapse of this nature takes a lot of patience. All it really took was getting the right manual aperture to achieve the evil atmosphere.
What you are seeing in this compressed version is not the true HD quality by a long shot. But when this project is done it will look incredible on the I the big screen. Pay attention to the nasty time lapse flicker. And that’s why I say creating a time lapse is like a Canon 60d test. The strange thing is that sometimes you get flicker, sometimes you don't. If you want to get the cleanest look do it like this: use one exposure for every one second interval.
The fact that light is actually changing every second, but our eyes can not perceive these changes, when the camera can, this is one factor, but I think it has something to do with the camera too. This is not a bad Canon 60d test, but the file is compressed, the blacks are noisy, and later, in the fished product, I would match the colors, contrast, and brightness, and crush the blacks a, but you get the idea.
