Virtually every type of class that is taken will at some point require an ability to communicate a written idea or thought in a clear and concise manner. Regardless of your major and regardless of your level of study, you will be required to engage and demonstrate a clear mastery of your chosen subject matter in written form in order to receive a degree.
An English composition class generally begins at the freshman level by introducing a few key concepts to students regarding reading and writing. Usually this is taught by showing students the basic elements of expository writing. Expository writing is a style of writing that is intended to explain and inform the reader regarding the subject matter of the essay or paper.
