The OAP Needed Hospice Treatment For Shock And Was Left Fearful Over How He Would Manage Without His Savings, According To Neighbours.
An OAP allegedly stole of his life savings by a man posing as a garda has been snowed under with donations and offers of help.
The 70-year-old had his nest egg of 28,000 taken at his Cork home last week.
And while gardai have since recovered an important amount of cash -- almost 19,000 -- it remains confusing if this is connected to the June twenty-six situation.
Till the court makes a controlling on the recovered money, it'll remain categorized as evidence and it may be up to 3 years before it is sent back to its owner.
The retired brewery worker had withdrawn the money from a monetary establishment a few days earlier as he was worried about the financial crisis.
A couple of days after the alleged robbery, the man -- who attends Mass daily -- was due to fly to Medjugorje on pilgrimage.
The pensioner needed surgery treatment for shock and was left afraid over how he would manage without his savings, according to neighbours.
Now , however , both gardai and community welfare groups have been amazed by the reaction to the pensioner's predicament -- with offers of money, weekend vacations and special home security installations being received.

Head honcho of the Cork Safety Forum, Tom Coleman, asserted the tale had touched hearts countrywide.
"I think everybody was very upset by this poor man's story," he said. "I was talking to him this morning and he's still very distressed about the entire thing. But there are a large amount of very good, decent folk out there and they all wish to do something for this man," he announced.
Mr Coleman will act as a liaison for the hundreds of folks that have approached the gardai and media outlets frantic to help the pensioner.
Offers of help have ranged from donations of one hundred to weekend hotel breaks to allow him to get over his tribulation.
One woman who made contact with the Irish Independent -- but remained unnamed -- said she was very upset by the man's ordeal.
"I just wish to make a small gift to help ease some of his stress. Just something to try and cheer him up," she said.
Supt Con Cadogan related gardai have been inundated by folks desiring to help the pensioner.
Gurranabraher station has also been approached by garda groups who have offered to do fundraising activities to try and help him, writes tagza.com.
