Why is it Important to Have a Face to Face Meeting Early in Online Relationships?
Online relationships can be wonderful for the people involved in them. For the most part they give both people in the relationship the opportunity to really ask questions and learn about the hopes, dreams, and inspirations of the other person in the relationship. However, despite all the sharing of information that is done in Internet or Cyber relationships, very few of them transition well into real world relationships.
That isn't to say that there aren't many who do. But, statistically speaking, most of the people who have had long-term online relationships and made the transition to real world relationships after a year or more of 'talking' online, have a much lower success rate than those who met early on in the 'cyber' relationship process.

It's more important than people tend to give it credit for. But it's also something You Can't really see or feel online. You can feel interest. You can feel desire. But chemistry is something that's really hard to see when there are computer screens and miles of wires between the two of you.
The thing about online relationships is that they can get emotionally intense very quickly. It's so much easier to open your soul to someone who isn't looking you in the eye for some reason. People also fall in love with the romance of it.
A quick face to face meeting can help you get a read about the chemistry you believe you're feeling. It can help you understand if it's genuine or the result of the excitement of getting to know someone online. Drawing the relationship out without meeting for an extended amount of time leaves you both open to the possibility that one person isn't all he or she seems to be too.
The sooner you meet in person the faster you'll be able to draw conclusions and learn more about where the relationship is really headed. You'll also be able to tell if the person on the other side of the computer screen has been completely honest with photographs and such.
You may not feel that looks are terribly important but whether or not the other person has been honest with you about how he or she looks is important. The sooner you know the truth of the situation the faster you'll be able to gauge what's really going on with the relationship and whether or not you wish to continue.
Finally, meeting sooner rather than later gives you something to build on. The connection can only grow that much stronger over time if you continue the relationship after meeting.
