This clever, funny big-screen adaptation of Lauren Weisberger’s best-seller takes some of the snarky bite out of the chick lit book, but smoothes out the characters’ boxy edges to make a more satisfying movie. There’s no doubt The Devil Wears Prada belongs to Meryl Streep, who turns in an Oscar-worthy (seriously!) strut as the monster editor-in-chief of Runway, an elite fashion magazine full of si…

Cheap Rubber Bracelets Bounce From Trend Setting Icon To Fundraising System

Punk Rockers were the first to construct Rubber Bracelets when they created their own from black, rubber o-rings. They wore them as a symbol of anti-establishment and anti-jewelry. It had become their tool for saying they'd wear rubber although it had no value or status like other precious metals such as platinum, silver and gold.

Celebs started wearing the rubber bracelets (actually 100% silicone) within their videos and concerts and, soon, they turned vastly popular among the younger age group. The stars wore them as a sign of support or for their own cause. Jelly bracelets were a fashionable item at this same time. They were made of thin rubber bands, created in translucent and opaque colors. A few of the translucent bracelets came embedded with glitters and these sought-after pieces could soon be purchased everywhere. They can be obtained in bubble gum dispensers, drug stores, mail order and the best of all, exchanging with others. It soon came into common use to put on as many as one could, even hundreds at a time.

Rubber Band bracelets started to be a trend once more in the 1990's but this time around, the bands were the thick rubber bands seen wrapped around vegetables in the grocery store. This, however, did not last for very long as rubber disintegrates swiftly from sweat and body oils, it sticks to the skin and it becomes irritating.

Once more, this trend had its flaws, and passed into history. Another well-known bracelet craze was that of the Jelly Bracelets that came in numerous colors and became known as Sex Bracelets. The different colors, you may have suspected, depicted a specific sex act that the wearer was prepared to do. An interested person would just have to approach the wearer, snap the band of his/her choosing, and he/she would end up being the recipient of that particular deed.

Teenagers everywhere soon became aware of the sex bracelet code breakdown that would be seen almost any place in the teenagers' world, be it the grapevine or internet exploration. As one can imagine, these Sex Bracelets were swiftly banished in the school, but anybody can still search online today and locate the different color definitions.

If purchasing Jelly Bands is not a possibility, one can find different ways of making them. One band incorporates cut, thin strands from an old tire, slicing with a very sharp knife. The strands can then be woven or braided into whatever style is you want.

Another unique way to create a bracelet is to unroll 3 prophylactics, using as many color combos as desired, and braid them together; the more color and texture, the better. Once completed, thread a metal clasp onto each end to help keep it secure and, there you are! Now you are the proud owner of your own especially distinctive Jelly Bracelet.

Like every other trend, this one appears to come and go with assorted messages. In 2004, Lance Armstrong got together with Nike and came up with the LiveStrong yellow band that now is a symbol of the message of Armstrong's cancer research foundation. Anyone can create one and anyone can also have one fabricated. They're fun, they're attractive and the serve a constructive goal too. They're commonly used by charity groups to fundraise, given that they're cheap, have high profit margins, and have the additional bonus of spreading their message further and longer than a old fashioned fundraiser would. While wearing a rubber bracelet, one is in style while promoting a message that can be critical to somebody else.
