Video Games Vs Movies, There Is No Comparison
Video games vs movies, which one will win? Indeed, the video game industry has taken a big junk out of the movie industry. The movie industry is faced with stiff competition as video games become more and more like movies. Will the sliver screen era come to an end now?
Is Hollywood about to go under? Whats your thing? Video games vs movies? What I love about Call Of Duty Modern Warfare is that you feel like you are your own movie hero saving the world from doom. You become immersed in the Video game story, and you control it. How can anyone resist this kind of power and excitement that a video game gives you?
The biggest problem for the movies is getting players who, through their games, have literally hundreds of hours of potential game play to go to a movie.
But all is not lost for the movies. It is only human nature to expect the worse, for example, when movies came out over a hundred years ago, people really thought that would be the end of reading. Over sixty years ago, when the boob tube, TV, came out people again thought that would be the end of movies. When Video game entertainment came out people thought that would be the end of TV.
No, the world never came to an end. Why? It is simple: the more people have the more people want. This is the theory behind shopping centers: developers try and cram in as many stores as possible into one location, and even if another center opens in the same area, that's great too! Having more stores means more costumers.
It is impossible to compare video games vs movies because they are two different things entirely. One is active participation, the other is a passive experience.
They both offer different experiences, for different times of day and moods. Being active is not always for me. Through hand eye coordination high performance gaming is becoming a sport. Sometimes I want to passively sit back and be entertained, this is the role of a movie, sometimes I want to romantically watch a movie with my wife. Sometimes I want to be the best I can be, a hero, that is what a video game gives me.
The problem with Hollywood is getting people into the cinema, and the way they do it is either creating gimmicks like real 3D, or combining the film concept with a video game release. It is true that their might be less and less movie goers, but now we do not even have to leave the comfort of our home with VOD. Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is one of the best movie style video games of all time.
