After dining at Juicy Lucy’s Steakhouse restaurant in Glenwood Springs a hundred times, I am going to finally write a review for what is now the only place I eat in Glenwood.

My business requires me to drive between Grand Junction and Denver several times a month. I stop at customers along the way – primarily in the Roaring Fork Valley. Usually I leave Grand Junction before dawn and drive a couple hours up to Aspen, working my way back down the valley until I arrive in Glenwood Springs – usually near lunch time.

Some of their Fresh Fish Offerings:

• mussels
• fresh catch of teh day
• crab
• blue crab

I have always gone to big, national chain restaurants because while they may not be great, they are consistent. That’s a smart choice in most areas, and after meals at a few of Glenwood’s restaurants I stuck by that maxim. I love new experiences as much as anyone, but I was very dissatisfied. Finally I inquired with some Glenwood Springs citizens what local restaurants were hot. Of course, I received many different opinions but the common thread was Juicy Lucy’s Steakhouse.

The locals invariably had good things to say about Juicy Lucy’s, and frankly, after finding the place I was impressed immediately. By immediately I imply I was pleased even in the parking lot. Juicy Lucy’s is at the hub of the trendy Glenwood Springs downtown scene and just across the Colorado River from the immense Glenwood Hot Springs pool. It is only a short stroll to all kinds of fun shops and remarkable architecture. Juicy Lucy’s itself is housed in a brick and mortar structure that has been around over a hundred years, embellishing the historic atmosphere. Once inside, I was impressed from start to finish. The warm restaurant was busy even at lunch, but the staff was gracious and polite, and we were seated quickly.

As a matter of fact, I have been there dozens of times and I have never waited over 15 minutes to be seated – even during the occasional dinner stop on the trip home. And after being seated, the meals are exquisite. I have eaten everything from their large appetizer menu to their wonderful steaks and have enjoyed it all. Juicy Lucy’s has a long wine list – from great, affordable domestics to costly but magnificent imports.

They have expanded and revamped the dining room, and the place is bigger and even better. Regardless of how many times I have eaten there, I still make my way to Juicy Lucy’s Steakhouse restaurant each time I go through Glenwood Springs.
