Jewelry Boxes For Women: Building Up a Lovely Royal Collection
Jewelry was and is an essential part of the royal families across the world. Queens and princesses had a number of heirlooms that were passed on from one generation to the next. Of all the royal families around, the British royal family's jewelry boxes for women held the most gorgeous collections.
The spotlight has always been on Princess Diana all through her life and now even in her death. There were some pieces of jewelry she had which she considered her favorite. These came as gifts to her from several other members of the royal family. She wore The Queen Mary tiara often.
Among her favorites were also an emerald and diamond choker. She also had a large sapphire set into a brooch and which she later chose to wear as a pearl choker. The royal family has a number of pieces that came down the generations.
Including 1333 diamonds and 169 pearls all around its base, The George IV State diadem was created in 1820. Queen Victoria and Elizabeth II both wore this at their coronations. George III owned the Russian Fringe Tiara. A number of Queens Consorts wore this till Queen Victoria finally changed it to a tiara at a later point.
The Queen Mary Fringe Tiara was made especially for Queen Mary in 1919. This was made from diamonds that George III owned including some that were taken from Queen Victoria’s tiara. This particular piece has quite a long heritage with it being passed from Princess Elizabeth to Princess Anne.
Queen Mary bought the Vladimir Tiara in 1921 from the Duchess Elena Vladimirovna of Russia. 15 Cambridge Cabochon emeralds were fitted into this crown. Elizabeth II inherited this from her grandmother and the piece is teamed only with the Cambridge and the Delhi Durbar Parure. Elizabeth the II wore this tiara for her official photograph as the Queen of Canada.
It was in 1973 that Elizabeth II ordered the Burmese Ruby Tiara. Garrard & Co. designed it to form of a wreath of roses. Clusters with rubies and gold for center of the roses were fashioned and the petals were made of diamonds and silver. A total of 96 diamonds sourced from Elizabeth's own private collection were used in the creation of this piece in addition to rubies and the diamonds. The Burmese people gave her the rubies as a wedding gift and that is how the crown was thus named.
There are several diamonds cut in different ways that make up The King George VI Chandelier Earrings. They are finished with 3 sets of diamonds cut in every conceivable way. Her parents gifted Princess Elizabeth these. The Queen Anne and Queen Caroline Pearl Necklaces together are estimated to be worth around £4,000,000. Each of them is a row of massive graduated pearls with pearl clasps. This necklace is believed to be a part of Queen Anne’s collection.
The royal family collections are gorgeous and will definitely go down in the records of history. It can be quite charming to have imitation jewelry of the same kind.

A Critical Analysis of de La Fayette's La Princesse de Cleves as a Royal Exemplary Novel: Kings, Queens, and Splendor $179 New - The present study shows that most of the so-called digressions and marginal historical figures play an integral role in an interpretation of "La Princesse". More than mere background, these are examples for the heroine to follow or avoid. The lessons that Diane de Poitiers, Mary Stuart, "et al" fail to master warn the Princess of the dangers of foolish behaviour. Drawing on the kings and queens we show how the examples play on the heroine's (and perhaps the reader's) mind, first subconscio |
