Discovering How To Forgive Yourself; Living A Life Of Freedom in Just 10 Days!
We have all done things in our lives we wish we had never done. Often these things can cause us unhappiness as we think about them, while different things cause us such heartache we can barely live with ourselves and we discover it is hard, if not impossible, to pardon ourselves for our actions. Perhaps you know what I'm saying. You are so abashed of something that youve done that You Can't comprehend you could or should pardon yourself. As an alternative you are feeling all you can do is spend the remainder of your life paying penance for your wrongdoing, in hopes that may take away the oppressive burden of guilt you are living with every day.
Without regard for your past evildoing, you may be released from the burden you now carry, caused by not forgiving yourself. You could have asked the forgiveness of The Lord God for what youve done, but if you have not managed to pardon yourself, you'll remain defeated, maybe bondage, until you choose to obey the Word of our Lord and forgive yourself.
Frequently when we glance at the original meaning and intention of of a word, we will be able to better understand how to use it in our lives. This is true as we glance at the Greek word for forgiveness meaning to free fully, i.e. Literally relieve, release, dismiss or let die, pardon, divorce from, depart, dismiss, let go, loose, put ( send ) away, to release, to be freed.
To anyone who may ask, your Heavenly Father gives His gift of forgiveness, meaning; He completely frees, releases, dismisses and pardons us from the debt and guilt of our sin. He sets us "body, soul and spirit" at liberty. Nevertheless he does not quit there. He then tells us to forgive others, as well as forgiving ourselves, in the same way we've been forgiven, assuring us the ability, by God's Spirit, to do so.
How does one go about actually forgiving him or herself? There's no exact way but these recommendation may be useful.
First, understand that one must make the choice to forgive ones self based primarily on God's Word to do so. Forgiveness is a choice and an act of the will is critical to cause it to happen.
Leviticus 19:18 claims you shall love your neighbor as yourself... Loving yourself is a command of Our Lord and love always includes forgiveness.
Next, if you have not already, ask your Heavenly Father to forgive you for the injustices you've done. It's vital to do that before working through forgiving yourself. Remember, He is waiting to forgive you and will graciously do so , if you ask Him.
Nehemiah 9:17 But you are a God of forgiveness, Gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in loving kindness.
Then, sit down quietly with The Lord God and ask the Holy Spirit to show you the things which you haven't let go of or forgiven yourself for. Put it all down on a notepad. Be certain and put down all of the specific details list the names of every person you hurt and the ways in which you caused them harm. ( No one will see this paper. )
From there be honest and express how you feel due to what you did; Are you annoyed at yourself? Are you feeling sorry? Undeserving? Be particularly fair, for your Heavenly Father knows it all already. This is a neat place to release all of the emotions youve carried or attempted to deny.
Now, make the choice to pardon yourself as God has forgiven you. Literally release, dismiss, let die, pardon, let go, loose, put ( send ) away, release and set yourself at liberty from the incorrect you are guilty of. Put your evil-doing into His hands and ask Him to cure your emotional wounds and permit you to go on without regrets, let go of the past and start fresh!
Eventually destroy your list and throw it in the garbage can as a visual prompt that the guilt of what youve done has been forgiven and carried away, gone forever.
Now, go and experience the healing, peace and liberty that is yours to enjoy as you praise God for His power of forgiveness.
