The Walk-In $11.99 Gary Berntsen, longtime CIA operative and the field commander who cornered Osama Bin Laden in Afghanistan, writing with award-winning novelist Ralph Pezzullo, offers in this edge-of-the-seat thriller a terrifying vision of where the next threat to America may come from. When a highly placed Iranian intelligence operative walks into a U.S. embassy claiming to possess explosive information, counterterrorism officer Matt Freed is dispatched to interview him and is warned of an impending attack on the United States that could kill millions. But is the man’s story precious truth or calculated fiction? Matt isn’t sure, but with a possible catastrophe looming in less than two weeks, his superiors reluctantly prepare for the assault. Matt can’t leave it alone, though. With questions still lingering about what is really going on, he defies his superiors’ orders and launches his own investigation. As the clock ticks down, he searches frantically for the truth at an Afghan prison under siege, an abandoned Uzbekistan bio weapons facility, and a Moscow hospital where an arms dealer is dying of a mysterious disease. Ultimately, Matt’s efforts brand him an out-of-control renegade, and he finds himself left out in the cold. Yet he may be the only one with the knowledge needed to avert unimaginable chaos. From a counterterrorism warrior who has spent a lifetime thwarting those who would do us harm, The Walk-In is an exhilarating plunge into tradecraft and terror. From the Hardcover edition. |

A Walk Across America $14.99 “>Twenty-five years ago, a disillusioned young man set out on a walk across America. This is the book he wrote about that journey — a classic account of the reawakening of his faith in himself and his country.>”I started out searching for myself and my country,” Peter Jenkins writes, “and found both.” In this timeless classic, Jenkins describes how disillusionment with society in the 1970s drove him out onto the road on a walk across America. His experiences remain as sharp and telling today as they were twenty-five years ago — from the timeless secrets of life, learned from a mountain-dwelling hermit, to the stir he caused by staying with a black family in North Carolina, to his hours of intense labor in Southern mills. Many, many miles later, he learned lessons about his country and himself that resonate to this day — and will inspire a new generation to get out, hit the road and explore.” |

Walking Your Way Into A Healthy And Balanced Lifestyle
More than likely you have heard many times that exercise is one of the major keys to saying healthy. Or even worse, some individuals are so obese that they just can't exercise without having chest discomfort or other forms of issues. Getting physical exercise does not mean spending hours a day at the gym, there are some other ways that take less time and are generally much easier. Taking a walk is a great option for people without lots of time and for people that are overweight. Although having diet pills like Phentermine 37.5 mg on it's own can really speed up your weight loss, it is advisable to combine it together with appropriate diet and regular exercise such as walking to get greatest result. In this article we will explain some benefits of walking and also the best times to do it.
Your heart health and also you cardiovascular health will both be benefited when you begin taking walks. Each time you go out and take a walk your heart needs to work a little harder to send the oxygenated blood throughout your body. It's not just your legs were talking about, but also your arms as 99% of the population automatically swings their arms when they walk. Although your heart won't be pumping as hard as if you were jogging, that small amount of extra effort your heart has to pump will help strengthen your heart. And every small amount of exercise you do helps to give you better heart health.
You have to also understand that this walking is also excellent for your entire cardiovascular system. For many people you will understand that any time you go out for a walk you'll be breathing just a Little Bit harder. This can help to strengthen your lungs as well as supplies much needed oxygen in your blood stream. This is relatively simple, as you breathe harder you obtain more oxygen, this oxygen ends up in your blood which is then carried to your muscles. Possessing a healthy and fit cardiovascular system is definitely an additional benefit of walking.
By making use of walking as an exercise tactic you will find that it is a no cost way to get your exercise simply because you don't need to buy any of that costly equipment also, you don't even have to go out and get yourself a health club membership. One of the very best times You Can take a walk is as soon as you wake up in the morning. In the morning your metabolism is actually working in low gear. By taking a walk when you wake up, you will be able to give your metabolism a kick start. This is also the best thing to do before you have your breakfast so that you can have your metabolism functioning before you eat. This also helps you to shed the calories from your breakfast rather than having it all turn into fat. If you want to burn off more calories you should also consider taking a walk after supper. And whenever you can, try to take a stroll in the daytime if time allows for it.
You also don't have to go all out and begin with a five mile walk every day. It will be possible to see and feel a difference in your health by starting off with just a mile or two. Something else you may notice in a small amount of time is that you are beginning to get rid of some extra weight.

''Soul & Spirit'' $19.99 America is a land of immigrants. We each have a unique story to tell. Most stories will never be known beyond the first generation's memories. To fit in with the dominate culture; most immigrants were pressured into denying their cultural roots. They never passed on their language or cultural histories to the next generation. Memories are treasures we enjoy in our golden years. We keep them alive by sharing with the next generation. My greatest treasure has been discovering the roots of my identity, my cultural base in the Nation of Cape Verde. This knowledge gives me pride; it adds unique perspective and value to my life. This book expresses my quest to discover my cultural roots. My grandparents provided support for the first generation born in America to survive and strive for the American dream. They came to America to find a better life and future for those left behind. In 1909 Nicholau and Rosa Pires, emigrated to the United States from the Island of Fogo, Cape Verde. They had four children born in America, Anna, Margaret, Roche, and my father Vasco. One daughter, Mimi, born in Cape Verde, remained there. In 1947 at the age of six, my father brought me from Ohio to live with my Cape Verdean grandparents on Cape Cod. My grandfather was Portuguese educated and learned just enough English to get his U.S. citizenship in 1946. In his house only Kriolu (Cape-Verdean spoken language) was spoken. The neighborhood was primarily Cape Verdean and most was from the same area on the Island Fogo. Sandwich Road, in the village of Teaticket, Massachusetts, was like a transplanted village from Cape Verde set in America. My grandmother, Rose "Ke'Ke'" was the friendly visitor of the community. She would walk the length of Sandwich Road (about two miles) at least once a week to visit relatives and friends, share the news, latest gossip from the Islands, and visit those who were ill. She would often take me along. The foundation of my love, pride, and longing |
